Sr. Buyer/Planner

Growing technology company looking for an experienced Senior Buyer/Planner to oversee procurement, production planning, and inventory management activities. This contract-to-hire role partners closely with Operations and Engineering to ensure material availability, supplier performance, and efficient production execution while driving cost savings and process improvements. This contract role is onsite in the Raleigh/Durham, NC area.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop sourcing strategies and manage supplier relationships for assigned commodities and services.
• Negotiate pricing, lead times, quality standards, and delivery terms with vendors.
• Issue and manage purchase orders, ensuring timely fulfillment of material and service requirements.
• Monitor supplier performance, track delivery commitments, and resolve supply chain disruptions.
• Manage supplier agreements, compliance documentation, and vendor performance metrics.
• Create and maintain production schedules and material plans using ERP/MRP systems.
• Manage inventory levels, safety stock, reorder points, and lead-time planning to support customer demand.
• Coordinate job orders and production requirements with manufacturing and operations teams.
• Analyze forecasts and adjust supply plans to reduce shortages, excess inventory, and obsolescence.
• Reconcile open production orders and support inventory accuracy initiatives.

.Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, purchasing, production planning, or materials management.
• Strong ERP/MRP system experience and advanced analytical skills.
• Proven ability to manage supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, and drive operational improvements.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Strong understanding of inventory control, forecasting, and manufacturing environments.
