Staff Accountant – Accounting Services
Job Duties
For multiple clients perform the following:
- Balance and maintain accurate general ledger using QuickBooks
- Prepare monthly financial statements
- Prepare payroll and payroll tax returns
- Reconciliation of cash and other subsidiary accounts on monthly basis
- Prepare and process accounts payable
- Sales and use tax return preparation
- Budget preparation and monitoring
Qualification and skills
- Understand entity types (set-up to financials) Accrual vs. cash
- Knowledge of various industries (i.e., retail, service, construction, etc.)
- Software proficient (QB, Excel, Word)
- Payroll
- Processing through annual returns
- Understand types of compensation
- Understand items affecting tax treatment Sales Tax
- Process prepayment & quarterly returns
- Understand taxable sales and district rules Inventory (basic knowledge of use)
- Fixed Assets (depreciation, etc.)
- Loans (ST/LT and amortization)
- Budgets (development/analytical variances) Financial reports (basic)
- Organized, able to understand detail up to big picture; analytical; problem solving skills
- Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines
