The Paver Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the asphalt paver. This position operates paving machines to spread and level hot mix paving material on driveways, parking lots, streets and pathways. PRIMARY DUTIESOperate the paver and other heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate mannerPerform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipmentPreheat paving screed before placement of asphalt and monitor and control temperature settings of the asphalt mixtureIf needed, manually light burners to start heating units of the paver and regulate screed temperatureOperate the paver controls to lower the screed auger, control the hopper, and navigate the direction of the paverAlign the paving machine into position when receiving asphalt by dump truck; at times, maintain a constant flow of asphalt into the hopper; ease paver forward, safely pushing the dump truck along the construction surfaceObserve the distribution of paving material along the screed and control the direction of the screed to eliminate voids at curbs and jointsLine paver appropriately to the work area, and ensures the proper application of the asphalt, smoothing it evenly to the desired height, width, and depthMonitor temperature of asphalt flowing from the hopperTrain new employees in the safe and efficient operation of the paverPerform other duties as assignedREQUIREMENTSApplicant must be at least 18 years oldHigh School Diploma or GEDValid driver's license and have a clean motor-vehicle record to meet company insurance guidelinesWilling to work in a team environmentMechanical knowledge of equipment and being able to perform routine maintenanceTravel to different job sites and projectsFisher Industries is an Equal Opportunity Employer.We are a drug-free work environment requiring pre-employment and random drug testing.
