Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Observe and participate in individual and group counseling sessions under clinical supervision.
  • Assist in conducting client intake interviews, screenings, and biopsychosocial assessments.
  • Help develop and update individualized treatment plans.
  • Maintain timely, accurate, and confidential clinical documentation in accordance with agency policy and New Jersey regulations.
  • Assist clients with identifying recovery goals and developing relapse prevention strategies.
  • Facilitate psychoeducational groups under supervision, as appropriate.
  • Monitor client progress and communicate observations to the supervising counselor.
  • Coordinate referrals to community resources and support services.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings.
  • Assist with discharge planning and aftercare coordination.
  • Encourage client participation in treatment and recovery activities.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and adhere to ethical standards.
  • Attend required clinical supervision sessions and staff meetings.
  • Complete all mandatory agency, state, and regulatory trainings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a behavioral health, psychology, social work, counseling, or related human services program.
  • Working toward CADC, LCADC, or other applicable New Jersey credential preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Demonstrated interest in addiction treatment and recovery services.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Understanding of substance use disorders and recovery principles.
  • Ability to build rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate documentation.
