Positional Overview
Imagine Staffing is seeking a detail-oriented Budget Specialist to support the Financial Manager for the Center for Government Excellence and Public Innovation (CGEPI) at Johns Hopkins University. This position plays a key role in supporting day-to-day financial operations, procurement, travel reimbursements, account reconciliation, and budget tracking within a collaborative academic environment.
The ideal candidate has experience with accounting or finance operations, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple financial processes while maintaining accuracy and compliance.
Role & Responsibility:
Tasks That Will Lead To Your Success
  • Provide direct financial and administrative support to the Financial Manager.
  • Create shopping carts and purchase requests within SAP.
  • Track purchase orders and process goods receipts to ensure timely receipt of ordered items.
  • Process employee travel reimbursements and non-employee reimbursement requests.
  • Complete Procurement Card (P-Card) and Travel Card expense allocations.
  • Coordinate travel and hotel arrangements for faculty and staff.
  • Obtain and properly utilize the University Procurement Card while ensuring compliance with university purchasing policies and procedures.
  • Create and maintain vendor records within SAP.
  • Assist with account reconciliations and financial record maintenance.
  • Track and monitor telecommunications expenses, including mobile phones and landline accounts.
  • Support monthly IT financial tracking and reporting.
  • Maintain accurate financial documentation and supporting records.
  • Assist with budget monitoring and financial reporting activities.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, vendors, and university departments to resolve financial inquiries.
  • Perform additional accounting and administrative duties as assigned.
Skills & Experience
Qualifications That Will Help You Thrive
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting, finance, budgeting, or financial administrative experience.
  • Experience supporting financial operations in a professional office environment.
Preferred
  • Experience working in higher education, nonprofit, or government organizations.
  • Experience using SAP or other enterprise financial systems.
  • Experience processing procurement transactions, purchase orders, and expense reimbursements.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.
  • Experience with procurement, purchasing, and vendor management.
  • Knowledge of account reconciliation and expense tracking.
  • Proficiency with SAP or comparable ERP systems.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
