Most excitingly, our story is still unfolding, and incredible growth opportunities lie ahead...WHAT IS THE JOB?Mashburn is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant (Close & Reporting Lead) to join our accounting team in Atlanta. This role is critical to ensuring an efficient, accurate month-end close, preparation of monthly financials, audit support readiness, and strong internal controls. The ideal candidate is a proven industry accountant who has owned close responsibilities and can step into a fast-paced retail environment.This is a hands-on role requiring strong accounting fundamentals, attention to detail, and the ability to manage deadlines and deliverables independently.This position is a full-time salaried exempt role working onsite in our Atlanta, GA Headquarters.WHAT ARE THE RESPONSIBILITIES?Work closely with the Controller to lead the month-end close process, including the close checklist, close calendar, and coordination across team membersPrepare and review journal entries, accruals, and month-end adjustmentsEnsure monthly close and financial reporting deliverables are completed accurately and on timeMaintain consistent close documentation and supporting schedulesPrepare draft monthly financial statements and supporting schedules for reviewPrepare budget vs. actual variance analysis and summarize key drivers and explanations for leadershipIdentify trends, issues, and variances and proactively communicate findings to the Controller and CFOReview routine reconciliations prepared by other accounting team membersEnsure reconciliations are complete, well-supported, and audit-readyIdentify opportunities to improve processes, strengthen internal controls, and increase automation, including through the use of AICoordinate and prepare audit support documentation, including PBC requests and audit schedulesEnsure supporting documentation is organized, accurate, and readily availableAssist with financial reporting, compliance requests, and other finance projects as neededWHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?The ideal candidate should have 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in industry & a bachelor's degree in accountingDemonstrated experience owning month-end close responsibilitiesStrong understanding of balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, and financial statement preparationHigh proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, lookups, reconciliation schedules, formulas)Experience working in an accounting system or ERPAbility to work independently, manage deadlines, and take ownership of outcomesMost importantly, the ideal candidate will bring a positive and team-oriented attitude to the workplace and must have a desire to grow professionallyReflect our Core Values of Hard Work, Hopeful, Helpful, Humble, Nimble, Hospitable & Honest
