Job Summary:
We are seeking dependable Van Riders / Loaders to join a growing lumber yard and building materials operation in Greensboro, NC. This position is responsible for loading, unloading, and moving lumber and construction materials while ensuring customer orders are accurate, secure, and ready for delivery. The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, physically capable, and comfortable working outdoors in a fast-paced team environment.
We are seeking dependable Van Riders / Loaders to join a growing lumber yard and building materials operation in Greensboro, NC. This position is responsible for loading, unloading, and moving lumber and construction materials while ensuring customer orders are accurate, secure, and ready for delivery. The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, physically capable, and comfortable working outdoors in a fast-paced team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Load and unload lumber, building materials, and related products from delivery trucks and company vehicles
- Assist drivers with deliveries and ensure materials are handled safely and efficiently
- Move products throughout the yard and warehouse using forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, or manual handling methods
- Inspect incoming and outgoing orders for accuracy, quality, and damage
- Secure loads using straps, bands, and other safety equipment to ensure safe transportation
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe lumber yard and warehouse environment
- Follow all company safety procedures and wear required PPE at all times
- Assist with inventory organization and material staging as needed
- Work closely with team members to support daily operational needs
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Ability to lift 50 pounds or more on a regular basis
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work safely in a fast-paced lumber yard environment
- Dependable attendance and strong work ethic
- Must meet background screening requirements
- Must pass a drug screening
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous lumber yard, warehouse, construction, or material handling experience
- Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification
- Experience loading and securing materials for transportation
- Knowledge of building materials and lumber products
