Cook – Medical Research Institute
Location: New Haven, CT
Pay: $24.50 per hour

Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Cook to join our team at a leading Medical Research Institute in New Haven, CT. This position is responsible for preparing nutritious, high-quality meals while following standardized recipes and accommodating specialized dietary requirements. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and experienced in a professional kitchen environment.
Schedule
- Monday–Friday with weekend availability required based on operational needs
- Shift: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM AND 11AM-8:30PM
- Flexibility to work weekends as needed
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook breakfast, lunch, and dinner according to established recipes
- Prep ingredients and meals for medical research trial participants
- Follow strict dietary restrictions and nutrition guidelines
- Maintain food quality, consistency, and presentation standards
- Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations
- Properly store, label, and rotate food products
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen
- Work collaboratively with the culinary team to meet daily production goals
Qualifications
- Previous skilled cooking experience in a commercial kitchen, healthcare, institutional, or hospitality setting
- Ability to accurately follow recipes and standardized production procedures
- Experience preparing meals for specialized diets is preferred
- Active ServSafe Food Handler or ServSafe Manager Certification required
- Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Requirements
- Must successfully pass a 7-year criminal background check
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screening
- Reliable transportation and punctual attendance required
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
