Job Description

Assistant Project Manager, Mission Critical — Your Next Step Up on a Data Center Build

Reno, NV | Full-Time, Exempt | $85,000 – $100,000

The Opportunity

You've mastered the fundamentals — now run bigger pieces of the project. Our client, one of the Southwest's largest general contractors with 50 years of building and projects exceeding $100M, is hiring an Assistant Project Manager for a mission critical project in Reno. You'll work alongside the Project Manager managing subcontractors, budgets, procurement, and owner communication on a build where uptime is everything and the schedule doesn't blink. Mission critical experience at this level is a career accelerant — this is where you get it.

Why You'll Love It

  • Bigger scope, real accountability: Manage subcontracts, change orders, and cost reports — not just logs
  • The sector everyone wants: Data center/mission critical experience is construction's most valuable currency
  • Clear path to PM: Prove it here and the next seat is yours
  • Full benefits + Nevada: Medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match, parental leave, PTO — no state income tax

What You'll Do

  • Support the Project Manager in day-to-day management of the project — schedule, budget, quality, and safety
  • Manage subcontractor relationships: scopes, change orders, pay applications, and performance issues
  • Own the RFI and submittal process, ensuring timely turnaround on a schedule-critical build
  • Prepare and maintain cost reports, budget forecasts, and procurement logs
  • Lead portions of OAC and subcontractor meetings; document and drive action items
  • Coordinate with superintendents on look-ahead schedules, deliveries, and sequencing
  • Support MEP and commissioning coordination — the heart of mission critical delivery
  • Manage project documentation, closeout deliverables, and punch list resolution
  • Build trusted relationships with owners, designers, and trade partners

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field — or equivalent experience
  • 3–5 years of commercial construction experience, ideally including Project Engineer experience with a GC
  • Working knowledge of construction contracts, change management, and cost control
  • Mission critical, data center, or MEP-intensive project experience a strong plus
  • Proficiency in Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project or P6, and Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication skills with subs, owners, and field leadership
  • Organized, proactive, and calm when the schedule gets tight
  • Comfort working from a job trailer on an active construction site

Drug-free workplace. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
