Job Summary
The Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of frac equipment used in high-pressure pumping operations, including acid treatments. This role requires strict adherence to safety protocols, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work in a fast-paced field environment on a rotational 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off schedule.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Safely operate frac equipment (pump trucks, blenders, hydration units, chemical/acid units, or other high-pressure pumping equipment as assigned) in accordance with company policies and industry regulations
- Set up, rig up/rig down, and operate high-pressure pumping equipment at well sites
- Handle and pump acid and other treatment chemicals safely, following all chemical handling, MSDS/SDS, and PPE protocols
- Perform pre- and post-job equipment inspections, reporting mechanical issues or safety concerns promptly
- Monitor pump pressures, rates, and equipment gauges throughout pumping operations, adjusting as directed by the job supervisor/company man
- Follow all site-specific safety procedures, including JSAs, PPE requirements, and lockout/tagout protocols
- Maintain accurate job logs, including pressures, volumes, chemical usage, and equipment hours
- Communicate effectively with the crew, supervisor, and client representatives during pumping operations
- Perform routine maintenance, greasing, and cleaning of equipment between jobs
- Comply with all DOT regulations (if operating vehicles requiring a CDL) and company driving/safety policies
- Maintain a clean driving record and required licenses/certifications
- Willingness to work a 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotational schedule, including long shifts while on rotation
- Other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, climb, bend, and lift for extended periods
- Ability to work in extreme temperatures and outdoor conditions
- Ability to wear required PPE (hard hat, steel-toed boots, safety glasses/goggles, gloves, FR clothing, chemical-resistant PPE as needed)
