Position Summary

The Mechanic II assists in the inspection, diagnosis, repair, and preventive maintenance of parish vehicles, heavy equipment, and mechanical systems. This position performs skilled mechanical work on gasoline, diesel, and electric-powered equipment, responds to emergency repair needs, maintains accurate service records, and helps ensure fleet assets remain safe and operational.

Must-Have Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum 2 years of mechanical repair and maintenance experience.
• Experience diagnosing and repairing gasoline and diesel engines.
• Knowledge of hydraulic, brake, steering, and drivetrain systems.
• Ability to read and interpret repair manuals and work orders.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in shop and outdoor environments.
• Availability for full-time day shift work and on-call emergency response.

Preferred Qualifications

• ASE certifications or equivalent technical certifications.
• Experience with heavy equipment, fleet maintenance, or public works equipment.
• Experience servicing electric-powered vehicles or equipment.
• CDL or ability to obtain one.
• Experience operating heavy equipment and commercial vehicles.

2. Describe your experience repairing hydraulic systems, transmissions, brakes, steering components, or air-conditioning systems.

4. Do you possess a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record?
5. Are you available to work a full-time day shift schedule in Houma, LA and participate in an on-call rotation for emergency repairs?
