Responsibilities:Attend scheduled team practices and sporting events. Hours may include nights, weekends, and holidays.Maintain accurate records of injuries and treatmentsRefer injured athletes to the appropriate medical facility. as necessaryFacilitate communication between athletes, coaches, parents, administration and the district's physician concerning the health and physical status of athletesWork in conjunction with other athletic trainers and team physiciansCollaborate with school nurse(s) to provide healthcare during the school dayImplement the "return to play" protocol for all concussed athletesEnsure that all State of Connecticut laws and regulations, as they pertain to the health and safety of student-athletes, are adhered to by the districtMaintain and update emergency action plans (EAP) and ensure EAP meets state of CT guidelinesDevelop and inform all coaches of necessary and appropriate safety protocolsEvaluate athletes' readiness to play and provide participation clearances, when necessaryPrudently manage emergency incidents, coordinate EMS and acute care procedures, including basic life support, to reduce the impact on function of an injured athleteMaintain appropriate and up-to-date standing orders to be reviewed annually by the directing physicianCompetencies:Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essentialAbility to maintain patient confidentiality is requiredAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the general publicAbility to maintain calm disposition during high pressure and potential traumatic situations and environments Qualifications:Must have current BOC certification and State of Connecticut LicenseTwo to five years of experience as an ATCCommunication skills are essential as this position interacts with practice providers, management team, staff members, student athletes, and parentsComputer skills: Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Electronic Medical RecordsCandidates will be courteous, articulate and reliable, and must be able to multi-task in a busy, professional, fast-moving environment while maintaining excellent customer service.OSG offers a pleasant professional work environment, competitive wages, and comprehensive benefits, including generous paid time off.Orthopaedic Specialty Group, P.C., is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
