APEX Placement and Consulting has partnered with an established manufacturer of cast components looking to add an NDT Level II Inspector to its quality team. In this role, you will perform and evaluate non-destructive testing on cast components, verify conformance with customer and industry requirements, and support quality from melt and molding through machining. What your day will look like:
- Perform UT, MT, PT, and VT inspections in accordance with Level II written procedures
- Set up, calibrate, and operate NDT equipment for cast materials and complex geometries
- Inspect cast components and identify shrinkage, porosity, cracks, inclusions, and other casting defects
- Verify conformance to customer specifications, engineering drawings, acceptance criteria, and applicable industry standards
- Accurately document inspection results and acceptance or rejection decisions
- Maintain inspection records in accordance with ASTM, ASME, and AWS standards
- Support internal, customer, and third-party audits
- Assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions related to casting defects
What we are looking for:
- Current ASNT Level II certification in UT, MT, PT, or VT
- Non-destructive testing experience in a foundry, casting, or heavy industrial environment
- Ability to read engineering drawings, specifications, and acceptance criteria
- Strong documentation skills and attention to detail
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally
Preferred qualifications:
- Certification in multiple NDT methods
- Experience interpreting radiographic testing (RT) results
- Familiarity with ASTM radiographic standards E446, E186, and E280
- Experience with ferrous and/or non-ferrous castings
- Prior experience in a jobbing or contract foundry environment
