Location: Helena, Montana (on-site)

Employment Type: Full-time

Reports To: Project Superintendent / Project Manager

Compensation: DOE (Depends on Experience) + benefits

POSITION SUMMARY

The Assistant Superintendent supports the Project Superintendent in the day-to-day management of a multifamily construction project from the ground up through final turnover. You will help coordinate subcontractors, manage schedules, enforce safety and quality standards, and keep the project moving on time and on budget. This is a hands-on field leadership role with a clear path toward a Superintendent position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist the Superintendent in planning, scheduling, and coordinating all phases of the multifamily project.

• Supervise and coordinate subcontractors and field crews to keep daily production on schedule.

• Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and shop drawings; help resolve field conflicts.

• Maintain and update the project schedule; communicate look-ahead plans to trades and the project team.

• Enforce jobsite safety programs and OSHA compliance; lead toolbox talks and maintain a safe work environment.

• Perform quality control inspections to ensure work meets plans, specs, and Mint Construction standards.

• Track material deliveries, manage staging and site logistics, and help control waste and costs.

• Document daily reports, progress photos, deliveries, and manpower counts.

• Support municipal and third-party inspections and help maintain compliance with local building codes.

• Communicate proactively with the Superintendent, Project Manager, owners, and inspectors.

• Assist with punch list completion, closeout, and unit turnover.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Construction field experience, with multifamily, wood-frame, or commercial projects preferred.

• Working knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, means and methods, and building codes.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents.

• Strong scheduling, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

• Familiarity with construction management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project) is a plus.

• OSHA 10 or 30 certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).

• Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to hold subcontractors accountable.

• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

• High school diploma or equivalent required; a degree in Construction Management or a related field is a plus.
