Fabrication Lead


About the Opportunity

Lang Recruiting is partnering with a growing manufacturer to find an experienced Fabrication Lead who thrives in a fast-paced production environment. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing daily sheet metal fabrication operations while ensuring safety, quality, and on-time production.

The ideal candidate has strong technical knowledge of fabrication processes, enjoys leading teams, and is passionate about continuous improvement.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and support day-to-day operations within the fabrication department.
  • Coordinate workflow to ensure production schedules are met safely and efficiently.
  • Develop and interpret fabrication drawings, blueprints, and production documentation.
  • Create production schedules, specifications, and manufacturing workflows.
  • Monitor equipment utilization, labor, materials, and production timelines.
  • Communicate priorities and schedules with the fabrication team.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and management to support manufacturing objectives.
  • Design and prepare fabrication drawings, layouts, and production plans.
  • Review project documentation to determine material, labor, and scheduling requirements.
  • Track production metrics and provide reporting to leadership.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency, and workflow.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable safety standards, regulations, and company procedures.
  • Complete required documentation, including purchase orders, bill of lading verification, invoice validation, and production records.
  • Train, mentor, and develop fabrication team members while promoting a positive and accountable work environment.

What We're Looking For

  • 2+ years of leadership experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
  • 2+ years of hands-on sheet metal fabrication experience.
  • Strong understanding of blueprint reading, fabrication drawings, and production documentation.
  • Experience with fabrication processes including cutting, bending, forming, nesting, welding, and finishing.
  • Excellent organizational and project planning skills.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound operational decisions.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform physical tasks throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds occasionally.
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures, equipment, and noise levels.
  • Willingness to work overtime, including occasional weekends or holidays, as production demands require.
