The Athletic Trainer provides on-site medical coverage for interscholastic athletic events within the Staten Island public school system. This per diem/part-time role focuses on injury prevention, evaluation, emergency care, and coordination of care for student-athletes during games and events.

Position Summary
The Athletic Trainer provides on-site medical coverage for interscholastic athletic events within the Staten Island public school system. This per diem/part-time role focuses on injury prevention, evaluation, emergency care, and coordination of care for student-athletes during games and events.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide athletic training coverage for assigned interscholastic athletic games and events
- Prevent, recognize, evaluate, and manage athletic injuries and medical emergencies
- Administer first aid and emergency care, including concussion management and heat illness protocols
- Determine athlete participation status and return-to-play decisions in accordance with NYS and DOE guidelines
- Communicate effectively with coaches, school administrators, parents/guardians, and healthcare providers
- Maintain accurate documentation of injuries, treatments, and incident reports as required
- Ensure compliance with New York State athletic training regulations and school district policies
- Maintain a safe athletic environment and oversee injury prevention strategies during events
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Athletic Training from an accredited program
- Current New York State Athletic Trainer License (required)

BOC Certification in good standing
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification
- Experience working in secondary school athletics preferred
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced athletic environment
- Ability to stand for extended periods during games
- Ability to lift, carry, and assist injured athletes as needed
- Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations
