Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable ADA Eligibility Officer (Part-Time) to join a great company in the Birmingham area. This role will provide direction and services necessary to meet compliance with all state and federal disability legislation and regulations.

Part Time Hours: Monday-Friday 8:30am-2:30pm (24 hours a week)
Pay: $19.00/hr

Responsibilities for the ADA Eligibility Officer (Part-Time):
  • Determines applicant eligibility for Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) complimentary paratransit service in accordance with ADA law.
  • Conducts interviews with applicants, interacts with various medical and service providers, researches requests, and renders determinations regarding eligibility for services.
  • Develops, updates, and maintains all ADA materials, documents, policies and procedures.
  • Regularly submits ADA paratransit changes as it relates to services offered to the Communications department to update the website.
  • Records, maintains and prepares documented minutes of applicants/customers hearings and/or meetings.
  • Schedules appeals and hearings. Prepares background information for appeals panel, and provides staff support at hearings.
  • Responsible for monitoring and tracking ADA complaints and grievances.
  • Maintains customer database, filing systems and support procedures required to ensure accuracy of customer information.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with social service agencies to strengthen communications regarding paratransit.
Qualifications Required for ADA Eligibility Officer (Part-Time):
  • At least two years of related experience required, preferably in a compliance or public service environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and ability to learn new software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
