Veterinary Assistant - Room Assistant

Primary Responsibilities

• Obtain accurate patient histories and document findings in the electronic medical record (EMR)
• Safely restrain and position patients for examinations, diagnostics, and treatments
• Create treatment plans at the direction of the veterinarian and review them with clients
• Provide clear client education and effectively communicate veterinarian instructions
• Assist veterinarians and technicians with diagnostics, treatments, and emergency care as needed
• Process patient blood work and assist with other laboratory tasks
• Feed, groom, weigh, and care for animals staying in the hospital
• Clean and sanitize cages, kennels, and exam rooms to maintain a safe and comfortable environment
• Sterilize equipment and ensure exam rooms are properly stocked and set up
• Perform routine hospital maintenance tasks including laundry, sweeping, mopping, and trash removal
• Ensure every client feels supported and every patient receives compassionate, attentive care

Qualifications & Skills

• Minimum of 1 year of veterinary hospital or animal handling experience preferred (canine and feline)
• Ability to safely lift pets up to 50 pounds and walk dogs up to 130 pounds
• Strong communication skills with a passion for client education and teamwork
• Excellent attention to detail and comfort working within electronic medical records
• Ability to multitask, remain calm under pressure, and adapt to a fast-paced environment
• Commitment to providing exceptional care to both patients and clients

Schedule & Work Environment

• Full-time position
• Schedule consists of 4 shifts per week, 10 hours per shift
• Must be available to work at least one weekend day
• In-person work within a busy veterinary hospital setting
