Job Title: Material Handler/General-Purpose Helper

Pay: $15.00 – $19.00 per hour, based on experience
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Job Summary:
We are seeking a dependable and hardworking Material Handler/General-Purpose Helper to join our machine shop team. This position supports daily production operations by moving materials, operating a forklift, manually loading and unloading products, cleaning work areas, and assisting wherever needed throughout the facility.

The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, flexible, and willing to perform a variety of physical and general labor duties. Pay will range from $15.00 to $19.00 per hour, depending on the candidate’s experience, skills, and ability to operate material-handling equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
• Operate a forklift to move raw materials, metal components, and finished products throughout the facility
• Load and unload trucks, trailers, and delivery vehicles using a forklift or by hand
• Manually lift, carry, stack, organize, and stage materials and products
• Deliver materials and supplies to machine operators and production areas
• Assist with staging materials for laser cutting, welding, fabrication, and other machine shop operations
• Receive, inspect, count, and properly store incoming materials and supplies
• Verify material types, quantities, labels, and identification numbers
• Prepare finished products for shipment by wrapping, labeling, banding, and staging materials
• Clean production areas, workstations, floors, equipment, and storage spaces
• Sweep, remove scrap materials, empty trash, and maintain clean and safe aisles
• Assist machine operators, welders, fabricators, and other team members as directed
• Perform general labor and facility support duties as needed
• Complete basic inventory, production, and material movement documentation
• Inspect the forklift and other equipment before use and report safety or mechanical concerns
• Follow all company safety procedures and machine shop requirements

Required Qualifications:
• Previous experience in material handling, manufacturing, warehousing, general labor, or a related environment
• Forklift operating experience
• Ability and willingness to perform both forklift and manual material-handling duties
• Ability to load and unload materials safely by hand
• Willingness to perform cleaning, housekeeping, and general-purpose helper duties
• Ability to read basic work orders, material tags, labels, and production instructions
• Strong attention to safety, organization, and accuracy
• Ability to follow instructions and assist in different areas as production needs change
• Dependable attendance and reliable transportation
• Ability to work independently and as part of a production team
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, and climb throughout the shift
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation

• Steel-toe boots are required

Preferred Qualifications:
• Current or previous forklift certification
• Previous experience working in a machine shop, metal fabrication, or manufacturing facility
• Experience handling sheet metal, steel, aluminum, or other raw materials
• Experience loading and unloading flatbed trucks, trailers, or delivery vehicles
• Familiarity with pallet jacks, carts, cranes, or other material-handling equipment
• Experience with shipping, receiving, inventory, or production support
