POSITION SUMMARY: Prepares and serves nutritious meals and snacks to residents and staff. Maintains sanitary kitchen conditions, inventory management and control.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to Program Manager

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Oversight and preparation of snacks, meals and the dietary needs of residents
  • Hands on supervision of all operations in the kitchen
  • Training residents in kitchen operations
  • Purchasing goods or supplies as directed
  • Maintaining an inventory report of all supplies
  • Ensuring that food safety and sanitation procedures are followed
  • Observing employees and residents to ensure that they are following policies and procedures correctly
  • Observation and serving as support staff as needed

  2. May have to work occasional weekends and holidays.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High School graduation (or equivalent).

Requires a current Food Handler’s permit (state of Utah)

Experience: At least 6 months prior job specific work experience

Physical Demands: Requires bending, lifting, stocking, cooking in heated, ventilated kitchen area.

Primary activities: Involves driving, walking, and talking. Involves sitting and standing.

Travel: Occasional to purchase supplies

Working conditions: Primarily inside kitchen area - lit and well-ventilated areas.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: PCS, BLS and Basic First Aid

ENVIRONMENTAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The responsibilities of this position involve physical activities including frequent walking, standing, lifting (up to 50 pounds unassisted), bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and twisting. Exposed to a residential, academic and therapy environment; following safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment (as necessary) is required. May be required to intervene with residential issues.
