Job Title: Senior Engineering Project Manager Location: Charlotte, NC Type: Direct Compensation: Depending on experience Contractor Work Model: Onsite Hours: 5 – 8 hours day System One is e are seeking a high-caliber Senior Engineering Project Manager to join our Project Management Department in Charlotte, NC. This role offers a premier opportunity to lead complex, large-scale design projects for major clients in the power industry. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of project execution, from early-phase design and vendor management through to start-up and commissioning. Senior Engineering Project Manager is responsible for:
- Strategic Leadership: Provide vision and direction for project staff while assuming full accountability for budget compliance, schedule adherence, and the quality of all technical deliverables.
- Large-Cap Management: Lead mid-to-large capital power projects, specifically Combined Cycle Power Plants, with a Total Installed Cost (TIC) of $100MM+.
- Global Coordination: Successfully manage and integrate work with overseas High Value Engineering (HVE) offices and diverse multidisciplinary teams.
- Project Controls: Monitor, report, and control project costs and productivity; manage Change Management (ECNs) to ensure project profitability and scope integrity.
- Client Relations: Act as the primary liaison with clients to ensure all contractual requirements are met and to identify new business opportunities through relationship building.
- Team Development: Recruit, train, and coach project personnel to maintain optimal staffing levels and high technical performance.
- Field Engagement: Perform field walk-downs and data collection, necessitating physical activity (climbing) and travel to job sites.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required.
- Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly preferred.
- Experience: 15–20 years of experience in Power projects, with a heavy emphasis on combined cycle plants.
- Must have EPC Engineering design delivery for combine cycle projects
- Leadership Track Record: Minimum of 8–10 years specifically in a Project Manager role managing a diverse portfolio of small to large-cap projects.
- Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills; highly organized and self-directed with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced team environment.
- Flexibility: Willingness to travel and work in both office and field environments.
