Position Summary:
Provides direct support to patients, physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners. Performs work utilizing best practices for medical assistant professionals. Contributes to a collaborative work environment where interactions with patients and co-workers are respectful and courteous. May be assigned to one of the following support positions: Desk, Hall, Floater.
Job Specific Responsibilities
- Patient Interaction
- Communicates professionally with patients, in person and on the phone, to provide information regarding clinic visits, medical conditions, testing, procedures, medication, and other such related matters.
- Documentation
- Enters accurate notes into patient electronic charts. Completes tasks in the gGastro medical records system in a timely manner. Ensures tasks are routinely completed and that outstanding/pending tasks are kept below 100.
- Training
- Provides training to co-workers as needed. Attends training as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education:
- High School diploma or equivalency:
- Medical Assistant certification from an accredited educational institution is preferred.
Work Experience & Skills:
- One year of work experience in a medical clinic or surgery/procedure center is required.
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and medical records information systems is preferred.
- Must have good attention to detail.
- Customer service experience is required.
- Good verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Must be willing to follow directions to provide excellent patient care.
- Must be able to document information accurately in patient records.
