Director of Social Services
Overview:
Springbrook Psychiatric Hospital is seeking a Director of Social Services to monitor, supervise, and evaluate the day-to-day operations of the hospital's social work department and therapy services. As a key leader in our mental health facility, you will be responsible for providing monitoring, supervision, and evaluation of the quality and appropriateness of social services furnished.
Responsibilities:
Provide clinical leadership, management, and supervision to the social services department
Monitor, supervise, and evaluate the quality and appropriateness of social services furnished, including intake or admission screening, psychosocial assessment, high-social risk case finding, and discharge planning process
Ensure continuity of care in the provision of comprehensive services and facilities, and coordinates communication with other Social Service Staff
Provide ongoing, appropriate training to Social Service staff and patients
Review all admissions for appropriate therapist assignment
Coordinate schedule changes, staff coverage, and group clinical format
Ensure quality assurance in Social Services' delivery, including clinical care and documentation
Provide ongoing active review of chart documentation to ensure compliance with Social Work functions
Provide regular reports to the Director of Clinical Services
Maintain Social Service compliance with all applicable Joint Commission and CMS standards
Carry a clinical case load for patient care
Work with Risk Management/Compliance to formulate written plan for Social Services
Attend in-service training and participate in other educational activities as required
Interface with financial, business development, and administrative teams to coordinate patient benefit status, patient treatment needs, and the resulting length of stay
Requirements:
Master's Degree (MSW) in Social Work from an Accredited School
Three (3) years of clinical experience in a psychiatric setting with at least one (1) year of supervisory/administrative experience
License preferred, but if does not possess, must be qualified by education and training in the social service needs of the mentally ill
Experience with multiple treatment settings (inpatient, partial, outpatient, hospital or residential-based)
Experience and knowledge of supervision
Expertise in all facets of mental health treatment and chemical dependency with demonstrated knowledge of special population needs, including persons with co-occurring disorders
Must possess education, training, or work experience with specific age populations and special needs groups
