Morris Park Rehabilitation & Nursing Center is currently seeking a Director of Housekeeping.

The Director of Housekeeping is responsible for the day-to-day leadership, management, and oversight of the environmental services/housekeeping department, ensuring a clean, safe, sanitary, and comfortable environment for residents, visitors, and staff. This position supervises 1199 housekeeping staff and ensures compliance with all Federal, State, Local, Department of Health, OSHA, CDC, and CMS regulations governing long-term care facilities.

This position may require a flexible schedule, including occasional weekends, holidays, and emergency coverage as needed.

Job Responsibilities

Housekeeping Operations & Leadership

  • Provide daily leadership, supervision, scheduling, coaching, and performance management of housekeeping staff.

  • Ensure departmental compliance with all Federal, State, Local, Department of Health, OSHA, CDC, CMS, and infection control regulations.

  • Conduct regular inspections of resident rooms, common areas, clinical spaces, offices, and public areas to ensure cleanliness and sanitation standards are consistently met.

  • Establish, implement, monitor, and revise housekeeping policies, procedures, and cleaning protocols as needed.

  • Develop and maintain preventive and routine cleaning schedules throughout the facility.

  • Ensure adherence to infection prevention and infection control practices specific to nursing homes and long-term care facilities.

  • Oversee room turnover processes to support timely admissions, transfers, and discharges.

  • Investigate and resolve housekeeping concerns, service issues, and resident satisfaction matters promptly and professionally.

  • Conduct ongoing staff education and training related to housekeeping procedures, safety standards, customer service, infection control, and regulatory compliance.

Inventory & Department Management

  • Manage departmental inventory and supplies, including ordering, receiving, storage, and distribution of housekeeping materials and equipment.

  • Maintain appropriate par levels and inventory controls to ensure uninterrupted operations while managing costs responsibly.

  • Monitor housekeeping budgets and supply expenditures.

  • Maintain all required departmental records, inspection reports, quality assurance audits, and operational documentation.

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and regulatory survey preparation.

Qualifications

· High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate Degree or related coursework preferred.

· Minimum of three (3) years of housekeeping supervisory or management experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility, Rehabilitation Center, or Long-Term Care setting.

· Strong leadership, management, and team-building skills with the ability to supervise unionized staff.

· Knowledge of nursing home housekeeping operations, environmental services standards, infection prevention, and regulatory compliance requirements.

· Experience developing cleaning schedules, quality assurance programs, and departmental procedures.

· Knowledge of inventory control, supply ordering, and maintaining departmental par levels.

· Familiarity with Department of Health survey processes and regulatory inspections.

· Excellent organizational, communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
