Job Description
General Scope of Duties:
The General Manager is responsible for leading, managing, and creating accountability for a team consisting of one CDL driver, two forklift operators, and one Customer Service Representative (CSR). This position oversees warehouse operations supporting a wide range of clients and commodities, with services including transloading, container deconsolidation/stripping, container loading/blocking/bracing, short- and long-term storage, inventory management, purchase order management, container drayage, and LTL/FTL shipments.
The General Manager is responsible for the daily dispatch and coordination of drayage operations from the Port of Charleston, ensuring efficient scheduling, equipment utilization, and customer service. The role also includes fleet management, overseeing vehicle inspections, preventive maintenance, repairs, DOT compliance, licensing, and overall fleet performance to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective operations.

- Experience recruiting, coaching, and developing employees while ensuring the right people are in the right roles.
- Maximize warehouse utilization and operational efficiency.
- Ensure warehouse safety, HazMat compliance, DOT compliance, and regulatory adherence.
- Oversee dispatching and scheduling of drayage operations from the Port of Charleston.
- Manage company fleet maintenance, preventive maintenance programs, repairs, and equipment availability.
- Prepare quotations for prospective clients and support business development opportunities.
- Coordinate the systematic onboarding of new customers.
- Handle escalated customer service issues and maintain strong client relationships.
- Maintain inventory accuracy and minimize warehouse and product damage.
- Minimize intermodal accessorial charges through effective planning and execution.
- Monitor operating expenses and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
- Familiarity with developing and maintaining ISO-compliant quality systems is preferred.
