Estimator / Project Manager – Heavy Civil Construction
We are seeking an Estimator/Project Manager to lead project delivery from pre-construction through closeout. You’ll work closely with clients, engineers, and internal teams to ensure bids are competitive and execution is seamless.
Successful Team Members in This Role Will…
- Lead the full lifecycle of infrastructure projects—from estimating and bidding through scheduling and execution
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors
- Submit competitive bid proposals and support business development strategy
- Collaborate with superintendents and field teams to maintain schedule, budget, and safety compliance
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, subcontractors, and vendors throughout the project
- Monitor project performance, track progress, and manage change orders
- Identify and mitigate risk factors affecting scope, cost, or timelines
- Ensure quality standards, contract compliance, and regulatory requirements are met
- Maintain accurate reporting for internal leadership and client stakeholders
A Day in the Life of an Estimator/Project Manager:
- Start the day reviewing bid opportunities or current project status updates
- Attend pre-bid walkthroughs or project site visits as needed
- Perform quantity takeoffs and evaluate vendor/subcontractor quotes
- Lead client calls or internal progress meetings
- Manage submittals, RFIs, and coordination with project engineers
- Monitor budget and prepare forecast updates
- Wrap up by updating bid files or project reports
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred)
- Minimum 4 years of experience in heavy civil construction project management and/or estimating
- Experience delivering paving and infrastructure projects
- Proficiency in estimating and project management software (e.g., Procore, HCSS, Primavera, MS Project)
- Strong understanding of construction means/methods, sequencing, and cost control
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills
