About This Role
Looking for a full time experienced teacher for immediate hire to join our dedicated team of educators in a small, close knit, team oriented, joyful center.
A Nurture and Nature teacher must be able and willing to work successfully in a team, coordinating the curriculum, and managing the day-to-day operational activities of the classroom. Teachers must understand children's cognitive, social, emotional and physical development in order to ensure a safe and stimulating classroom environment where children are actively engaged and encouraged to succeed.
Teachers must be skilled in communicating with both children and adults in order to meet the needs of the children, resolve parental concerns and willing to ask questions as needed and provide assistance as needed.
Nurture and Nature Children's Center prides itself on being a respectful, happy, well run team where no job is too small and the Director is always available for support and guidance as needed.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate with co-teacher to develop and implement weekly plans and activities.
- Responsible for implementing all State Licensing guidelines, performance standards, policies and procedures, regulations in the day-to-day operation of an early childhood development center including developmentally appropriate practices.
- Responsible for assisting with documenting of information required to document the growth and development of children.
- Provide day-to-day supervision and support to other teachers, substitutes, and volunteers, which include sharing daily program plans and discussing goals for children.
- Help maintain a well-organized, safe, and attractive classroom environment conducive to the optimal growth and development of children.
- Develop a positive relationship with each child and promote the development of self-esteem and self-discipline.
- Observe each child daily to assess skills, interest, and needs and use this information to facilitate learning and growth.
- Establish a positive and professional relationship with each child’s family and share information about the child’s day at the center.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Requirements
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Have a minimum of 9 credits in child development, early childhood, or elementary education from a regionally accredited college or university, including at least 3 credits in child growth and development or willing to obtain them upon hire.
- Proven ability to relate positively to young children, parents, and staff.
- Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practice and how it applies to each age group.
- Demonstrate success in working as a member of a team.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours in order to meet the needs of the program.
- Ability to occasionally assist students with personal hygiene tasks, assist students with injury and/or illness that could result in possible exposure to bodily fluids.
- Be able to lift 25-30 lbs.
- Be able to walk, squat/kneel, sit on floor, see, hear, speak with children to ensure children’s health and safety.
Nice To Haves
- Strong working knowledge of NH State Licensing Standards, including monitoring and evaluating.
- Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practice and how it applies to each age group.
- Effective and strong communication skills (oral and written).
- Demonstrate an ability to work successfully with community-based agencies and build partnerships.
- Demonstrate supervision skills.
