Pay: $30.00–$45.00 per hr (based on experience)

Work Location: Field-Based / Commercial Service Territory

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Chiller Service Technician to join a growing commercial HVAC service team. This role is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of commercial chiller systems for a diverse portfolio of commercial and industrial customers.

The ideal candidate is a highly skilled HVAC professional with extensive experience servicing air-cooled and water-cooled chillers, exceptional diagnostic abilities, and a commitment to delivering outstanding customer service. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance on commercial chiller equipment to maximize system performance and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair complex mechanical, electrical, refrigerant, and control system issues.
  • Install new commercial chiller systems, components, and related equipment.
  • Conduct operational testing, inspections, and performance evaluations.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and equipment documentation.
  • Complete detailed service reports, repair documentation, and recommendations following each service call.
  • Respond to scheduled service requests as well as emergency breakdowns in a timely manner.
  • Recommend repair and replacement solutions that improve system performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in a clean and safe operating condition.
  • Stay current with evolving HVAC technologies, manufacturer updates, and industry best practices.
  • Follow all OSHA regulations, safety procedures, and company policies while working in the field.
  • Build strong relationships with customers through professional communication and quality workmanship.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of commercial chiller service experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC systems and chiller operation.
  • Experience servicing major manufacturers including York, Carrier, Trane, Daikin, McQuay, and similar equipment.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills involving mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, and control systems.
  • Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and control schematics.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple service calls.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • EPA Universal Certification preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Factory certifications from major chiller manufacturers
  • Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS)
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification
  • VRF or centrifugal chiller experience
  • Commercial controls troubleshooting experience

Physical Requirements

  • Lift, carry, and move equipment weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Climb ladders and work from elevated surfaces.
  • Work in mechanical rooms, rooftops, confined spaces, and various indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Frequently bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to respond to after-hours emergency service calls when scheduled.
