Veterinary Assistant

The Veterinary Assistant will support veterinarians and hospital staff in a busy small animal practice, focusing on routine patient care and operational tasks. This position involves assisting with surgeries, administering medications, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring excellent animal care during appointments. The role reports directly to the Veterinarian and Practice Manager and operates on a schedule of four 10-hour shifts without weekend work.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care including treatments and monitoring
• Assist veterinarians during surgical procedures
• Administer medications as prescribed
• Clean and maintain animal care facilities and equipment
• Perform laboratory work and animal restraint
• Maintain accurate patient records
• Collaborate with the veterinary team for smooth operations

Required Qualifications

• Entry-level experience in veterinary technology
• Associate degree in Veterinary Technology or related field

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in animal care and surgical assistance
• Skills in patient monitoring and medication administration
• Knowledge of laboratory procedures and animal restraint
• Proficiency in cleaning and sterilization techniques
