20USD - 32USD per hour

Job Description

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced, skilled, and dependable Automotive Technician to join our busy independent repair shop.

We are looking for more than someone who can simply replace parts. We want a technician who can diagnose problems, think through repairs, work independently, stay productive, and take ownership of their work from start to finish.

This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for an experienced A- or strong B-level technician who can step into a busy shop and contribute immediately.

Competitive pay based on experience, skill level, certifications, and diagnostic ability.

We understand that years of experience alone don't determine a technician's value. Compensation will reflect your actual abilities and what you bring to our shop.

Highly skilled and experienced technicians will be compensated accordingly.

Our ideal technician:

  • Has solid professional automotive repair experience
  • Has strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
  • Can diagnose mechanical, electrical, and drivability concerns
  • Can perform repairs independently without constant supervision
  • Knows how to use scan tools, diagnostic equipment, and service information
  • Can take an assigned vehicle from diagnosis through completed repair
  • Works efficiently while maintaining high-quality standards
  • Understands the difference between diagnosing a problem and simply replacing parts
  • Takes pride in doing the job correctly the first time
  • Communicates clearly when additional repairs, parts, or information are needed
  • Is organized and keeps their work area professional
  • Is dependable, punctual, and ready to work
  • Takes responsibility for their work
  • Works well with the rest of the shop team
  • Looks for the next job rather than waiting to be told what to do

Responsibilities:

You should be comfortable performing a wide variety of automotive services and repairs, including:

  • Vehicle diagnostics and troubleshooting
  • Check-engine-light and drivability diagnosis
  • Electrical diagnosis and repair
  • Brake systems
  • Steering and suspension
  • Engine repair
  • Cooling systems
  • Heating and air conditioning
  • Starting and charging systems
  • Preventive maintenance
  • General automotive repair
  • Vehicle inspections
  • Identifying needed and recommended repairs
  • Performing quality-control checks before vehicles leave the shop

Technicians are expected to document findings clearly and communicate with the service team regarding vehicle condition, recommended repairs, parts needs, and job status.

Qualifications

  • Previous professional automotive technician experience required
  • Strong mechanical knowledge and diagnostic ability
  • Ability to work independently
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
  • Professional automotive tools appropriate for the position
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
  • PA Safety Inspection License preferred
  • PA Emissions Inspection License preferred
  • ASE certifications are a plus

At our shop skill matters—but so do reliability, attitude, productivity, and work ethic.

We're looking for someone who can be handed a repair order and take ownership of the job. Diagnose the problem, communicate what you find, complete the repair properly, verify your work, and move on to the next vehicle.

We want technicians who stay productive without sacrificing quality or cutting corners.

We take pride in our work and expect our technicians to do the same.

We're a busy independent shop where experienced technicians have the opportunity to use their skills and stay productive.

We're looking to build a team of people who show up, work hard, help each other, and take pride in what leaves the shop.

If you're a skilled technician who is tired of carrying coworkers who don't pull their weight, being micromanaged, or working somewhere your experience isn't appreciated, we'd like to talk to you.
