Freight Forwarding Pricing Analyst
Job Description
Position Summary
The Pricing Analyst is responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing pricing strategies across ocean, air, and domestic freight services. The role ensures competitive, accurate, and profitable rate structures by analyzing market trends, carrier tariffs, customer requirements, and internal cost models. The analyst works closely with sales and operations, teams to support quoting, RFQs, tenders, and strategic pricing initiatives.
Reporting Structure
Position reports to Director of Operations
Key Responsibilities
· Rate Analysis - Evaluate carrier tariffs, surcharges, market trends, and cost fluctuations to maintain competitive pricing.
· Quotation Management - Prepare accurate and timely customer quotes, ensuring alignment with margin targets and operational feasibility.
· RFQ & Tender Support - Lead pricing input for customer RFQs, bids, and tenders, coordinating with procurement and operations.
· Carrier Negotiation Support - Work with the director of Operations to benchmark rates, identify cost-saving opportunities, and support carrier negotiations.
· Margin Optimization - Analyze profitability by lane, customer, and mode; recommend pricing adjustments to improve contribution margins.
· Data Management - Maintain rate sheets, tariffs, surcharges, and pricing databases with high accuracy and version control.
· Market Intelligence - Monitor freight indices, capacity trends, seasonal patterns, and geopolitical impacts affecting pricing.
· Cross-Functional Collaboration - Partner with sales to ensure pricing aligns with service capabilities and cost structures.
· Customer Support - Provide pricing clarifications, cost breakdowns, and strategic recommendations to internal stakeholders.
· Compliance & SOP Adherence - Ensure all pricing follows internal SOPs, carrier rules, and regulatory requirements.

· Reduction in pricing errors or re-quotes

Required Skills & Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field
· 2-5 years of experience in freight forwarding, pricing, or logistics analytics
· Strong understanding of ocean, air, and domestic freight cost structures
· Proficiency in Excel, BI tools, and rate-management platforms
· Analytical mindset with strong numerical accuracy
· Ability to interpret carrier tariffs, surcharges, and market indices
· Excellent communication and cross-department coordination skills
· Strong attention to detail and SOP-driven work style
· Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple quotes simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience with NVOCC and Air pricing
· Knowledge of global trade lanes and carrier procurement
· Experience supporting RFQs for large accounts
· Understanding of customs, compliance, and Incoterms
