Paralegal Specialist
Job Description
The Office of Monique H. Worrell, State Attorney for the Ninth Judicial Circuit of Florida, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Paralegal to join our team.
The ideal candidate will assist the ASA / General Counsel at MBI by performing various duties such as:
Provide support for all aspects of civil forfeiture cases to include drafting legal documents, e-filing, mailing notices, publication of the case, service of the summons, civil discovery demands, depositions, calendaring, setting hearings, compiling, and organizing documents for the case file.
Assist agents with the preparation of legal documents such as search warrant applications, arrest warrants, pen registers, investigative subpoenas, wire intercepts, and orders.
Assist with Public Records Requests and Quarterly reports
Maintain an Excel Forfeiture log for forfeiture reporting to the Department of Justice
Maintain an Investigative Subpoena log
Compose letters and other professional correspondence. Must have intermediate computer skills to include word processing, spreadsheet applications, PowerPoint presentations, and familiarity with virtual meeting applications.
Assist with administrative tasks and responsibilities such as answering the phone, scheduling meetings, delivering MBI case packets to SAO9, assist with case taskings, calendaring and managing of the attorneys’ calendars.
Minimum Training and Experience:
Associates degree (AA or AS) or equivalent from a two-year accredited college and successful completion of a paralegal certification program.
Or graduation from an accredited four-year college or university in Criminal Justice or Legal Studies.
Or graduation from an accredited four-year college or university and successful completion of a legal assistant education program approved by the American Bar Association.
Preference will be given to applicants with experience as a Paralegal in the Criminal Justice field.
