Jackson Auto Outlet & Taylor’s Trailers is seeking an experienced Automotive Technician / Mechanic to join our service department in Rome, NY.

The Automotive Technician will be responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing a wide variety of cars, SUVs, and light-duty trucks. This position requires someone who can properly diagnose vehicle concerns, work efficiently, and complete repairs correctly the first time.

We are looking for a technician with approximately 3–5 years of professional automotive repair experience who is comfortable working independently while also being part of a team.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and drivability concerns
  • Perform brake system diagnosis and repairs
  • Perform steering and suspension repairs
  • Diagnose and repair engine and cooling system concerns
  • Perform oil changes and scheduled maintenance
  • Diagnose and service A/C and heating systems
  • Install, balance, rotate, and repair tires
  • Perform wheel alignments
  • Diagnose check-engine lights and other warning lights
  • Perform battery, starting, and charging system repairs
  • Complete pre-sale inspections and repairs on dealership inventory
  • Inspect vehicles and accurately identify needed repairs
  • Use diagnostic scanners and other automotive testing equipment
  • Document repairs and recommended services accurately
  • Perform repairs in a safe, timely, and professional manner
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Follow proper shop safety procedures
