Class B Driver / Laborer
Job Description
MAJOR DUTIES:
Pick up regular, bulk, and recycling trash from businesses and residences throughout the Borough. See that collection policies as per the Superintendent are adhered to; ensure that the full route is properly collected, check trucks daily and ensure proper fluid levels, report repair needs, and keep trucks clean. Be responsible for the safety of the other truck personnel as well as the truck and damage to trucks or accidents. Carry out responsibilities in a safe, accident-free manner to minimize injuries to oneself and other truck personnel, and avoid collisions that cause damage to the truck, other vehicles, or property." Handle other work assignments as necessary when assigned.
PAY CLASSIFICATION: Grade 4
As of 04/01/2026 – Starting salary of $30.89/hour
BENEFITS: State pension, contributory life insurance, medical, dental, and prescription with payroll deductions.
SCHEDULE: Position based on a 35-hour work week, Monday through Friday.
WORK LOCATION: Department of Public Works, 555 Centre Street, Haddonfield, NJ
REPORTS TO: Trees & Recycling Coordinator
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- Min. Class B CDL driving license
- Good truck driving skills
- Good driving record
- Good attendance record
- Good physical condition
- Be able to communicate satisfactorily with others
- Ability to understand and carry out policy
