Job Description

Cultivating Homes, LLC is a licensed residential group home in Indian Land, South Carolina, providing a safe, structured, and nurturing environment for boys in our care. Our mission is simple — Building Roots. Growing Futures.

We are hiring Direct Care Staff (Direct Support Professionals) to provide daily care, supervision, and mentorship to the youth living in our home. This is meaningful, hands-on work for people who want to make a lasting difference in a young person's life. No two days look the same, and the relationships you build matter.

We provide paid training, ongoing professional development, and a supportive team environment. Prior residential experience is helpful, but the right attitude — patience, consistency, and genuine care for kids — matters most.

What You'll Do

  • Supervise and monitor residents at all times, maintaining a safe and supportive environment
  • Carry out daily routines, behavior management plans, and therapeutic interventions as directed
  • Assist with daily living activities including hygiene, meals, recreation, school support, and transportation
  • Build positive, professional relationships with residents grounded in trust and respect
  • Document resident behavior, incidents, progress, medication administration, and daily logs accurately
  • Respond calmly and appropriately to crisis situations using de-escalation techniques and emergency protocols
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold residents' rights in accordance with HIPAA and agency policy
  • Work collaboratively with supervisors, case managers, clinicians, and teammates
  • Attend team meetings, supervision sessions, and required ongoing training

What You Need

  • Must be at least 21 years of age (South Carolina licensing requirement)
  • High school diploma, certificate, or equivalent required
  • Minimum one year of child care experience, paid or unpaid (South Carolina licensing requirement)
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to pass a SLED and FBI fingerprint-based background check, Central Registry (OHAN) check, South Carolina and National Sex Offender Registry checks, and a drug screening
  • Ability to complete a physical examination and health clearance
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Human Services or a related field preferred
  • Previous experience with youth in residential or behavioral health settings preferred

Skills That Set You Apart

  • Understanding of trauma-informed care and adolescent development
  • Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills
  • Ability to stay calm and effective under pressure
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and online training
  • Empathy, patience, and professionalism in every interaction

Schedule

Shift work including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Available shifts include:

  • 1st shift (day)
  • 2nd shift (3:00 PM – 11:00 PM)
  • 3rd shift / overnight (11:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
  • Weekend shifts

What We Offer

  • Competitive hourly pay
  • Paid orientation and ongoing training, including CPR/First Aid and bloodborne pathogen certification
  • Professional development opportunities
  • Paid time off and holiday pay (if applicable)
  • Health benefits (if applicable)
  • A supportive, mission-driven team

Work Environment

This role requires active supervision, the ability to physically assist residents, light housekeeping, and being on your feet for much of the shift.
