Job Description

Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)

About Us

Comprehensive Learning Services is dedicated to providing high-quality applied behavior analysis (ABA) services to individuals and families in our community. Our team is passionate about making a meaningful difference through evidence-based, compassionate care. We are currently seeking a motivated and dedicated Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) to join our growing team.

Position Overview

This is a part-time, hourly position working 20 hours per week during afternoon hours. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical skills, a positive attitude, and a commitment to client success. Based on satisfactory performance, there is a clear pathway to transition into a full-time role.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement individualized ABA treatment plans under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)

• Collect accurate data on client behavior and skill acquisition, using patterns and clinical reasoning to inform practice

• Deliver direct therapy services to clients in a professional and compassionate manner

• Maintain clear and timely session notes and documentation

• Identify and communicate subtle antecedents, setting events, and motivating operations to the supervising BCBA

• Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and families — translating ABA concepts into accessible, jargon-free language

• Participate in supervision sessions prepared with targeted questions and relevant data

• Support and model professional behavior for junior staff members

• Adhere to BACB ethics code in practice, and proactively flag concerns related to treatment integrity, assent, or client safety

What We're Looking For

We take pride in building a team of clinically strong, emotionally mature, and ethically grounded RBTs. The qualities below are what distinguish a great fit at Comprehensive Learning Services:

1. Clinical Mindset

• Thinks in functions, patterns, and data — not just procedures

• Asks why before implementing; can articulate clinical rationales in plain language

• Notices subtle antecedents, setting events, and environmental changes

2. Emotional Regulation & Professionalism

• Remains calm and composed during challenging behaviors, parent concerns, or team stress

• Does not personalize client behavior or corrective feedback

• Receives feedback without defensiveness and applies it constructively

3. Ethics & Scope Awareness

• Understands what is and is not within RBT scope of practice

• Seeks supervision appropriately and proactively

• Flags ethical concerns early — including treatment integrity, assent, and safety

4. Reliability & Ownership

• Consistent attendance and punctuality are non-negotiable

• Follows through on responsibilities without requiring micromanagement

• Treats client outcomes as a shared responsibility, not simply a shift obligation

5. Communication & Collaboration

• Collaborates with team members constructively; handles disagreements respectfully and privately

• Communicates professionally and warmly with caregivers while maintaining appropriate boundaries

• Knows when to defer clinical decisions to the supervising BCBA

Minimum Qualifications

• Current RBT certification in good standing (required)

• High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree in psychology, education, or related field preferred

• Prior experience working with individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or developmental disabilities
