Charter Senior Living of Oak Openings is seeking a compassionate and experienced Memory Care Director to lead our specialized memory care program. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring the highest quality of care for residents living with Alzheimer’s, dementia, and other memory-related conditions.

POSITION SUMMARYThe Memory Care Director oversees the daily operations of the memory care program and ensures residents living with dementia receive personalized, compassionate care. This role provides leadership to memory care staff while developing programs that support residents’ cognitive, social, and emotional wellbeing.
The Memory Care Director works closely with families, clinical teams, and other departments to create an environment where residents feel safe, supported, and engaged.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESLeadership and Staff ManagementSupervise, train, and mentor memory care team members
Develop staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage and quality care
Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching and feedback
Lead team meetings focused on resident care, updates, and operational improvements
Promote a compassionate, team-oriented culture
Resident Care OversightDevelop and implement individualized care plans for residents
Monitor resident progress and adjust care plans when necessary
Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and interdisciplinary care teams
Communicate regularly with families regarding resident wellbeing
Ensure care is delivered in compliance with state regulations and company standards
Program DevelopmentCreate engaging therapeutic programs that support cognitive stimulation and social interaction
Plan activities designed specifically for residents living with dementia
Introduce innovative approaches that enhance resident quality of life
Compliance and DocumentationMaintain accurate documentation of assessments, care plans, and progress notes
Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations
Participate in inspections, audits, and regulatory surveys
Family Support and EducationServe as a liaison between families and the care team
Provide guidance and resources to families navigating memory care challenges
Coordinate family education sessions and support opportunities
Operational ManagementOversee daily operations of the memory care neighborhood
Monitor departmental budget and resource allocation
Ensure the environment remains safe, clean, and supportive for residents
QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree in nursing, social work, healthcare administration, or related field preferred.
Certification in dementia care such as CDP, CADDCT, or similar preferred.
Minimum 5 years of experience in senior living, long-term care, or memory care, including 2 years in a leadership role.
Strong understanding of dementia-related conditions and memory care best practices.
Knowledge of state and federal regulations related to senior care.
Excellent leadership, communication, and team development skills.
WORK ENVIRONMENTThis position works within a senior living community and involves regular interaction with residents, families, and staff.
Occasional evening or weekend availability may be required for family meetings, staff needs, or special programs.
Physical requirements may include sitting, standing, walking, and occasionally lifting or moving objects.
