Position Summary

The Class A CDL Flatbed Driver is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of utility-related materials and freight between local customer locations throughout Texas. This position requires experience operating flatbed equipment, securing loads, conducting inspections, and safely navigating both highway and local road environments.

Drivers work closely with customers, dispatch personnel, warehouse teams, and operations management to ensure exceptional service and safe delivery practices.

No overnight travel. No over-the-road (OTR) assignments.

Position Details

Location: Venus, TX

Schedule: Monday through Friday

Shift: Day Shift, approximately 5:00 AM - 2:00 PM

Employment Type: Full-Time, Hourly

Pay Rate: $26.00 per hour

Overtime: Paid at 1.5x hourly rate

Average Weekly Hours: 45-48 hours

Reports To: Utility Fleet Operations Supervisor

Equipment You'll Operate

• Class A Tractor
• 53' Flatbed Trailers
• 53' Step Deck Trailers
• 48' Flatbed Trailers
• Day Cab Trucks
• Standard (Manual) Transmission
• Moffett Forklift Mounted on Trailer

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Safely operate Class A commercial vehicles and flatbed equipment.
• Pick up, transport, and deliver materials to customer locations in a timely manner.
• Properly secure loads using approved flatbed securement methods.
• Load and unload materials at customer sites using appropriate equipment and procedures.
• Operate a Moffett forklift safely and efficiently (training provided if applicable).
• Communicate daily with dispatch regarding routes, schedules, and customer requirements.
• Verify freight counts and inspect loads for damage before transport.
• Complete and submit manifests, bills of lading (BOLs), delivery receipts, and other required documentation.
• Report equipment defects, maintenance concerns, and safety issues promptly.
• Maintain compliance with DOT regulations, company safety standards, and customer requirements.
• Provide professional customer service while representing H5 Fleet Services and Logisticorp Group.

QualificationsRequired

• Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
• Minimum of 3 years of verifiable Class A driving experience
• Flatbed trailer experience
• Ability to obtain and maintain DOT qualification status
• Successful completion of Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review
• Ability to safely secure, transport, and unload freight
• Strong understanding of safety practices and DOT regulations
• Ability to work overtime as business demands require
• Ability to lift, push, pull, and handle freight and securement equipment

Preferred

• Experience operating a Moffett forklift
• Utility industry experience
• Tractor-trailer load securement certification or training
• Basic mechanical troubleshooting experience

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and move up to 75 pounds as needed.
• Ability to climb, bend, stoop, kneel, and secure loads.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to enter and exit truck cabs and trailers multiple times each day.

Requirements:

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Flat Bed Trailer Experience
• Must have Class A Commercial Driver’s license
• Must have 3 years verifiable driving history and successfully pass MVR check
• Must have BASIC mechanical and driver troubleshooting knowledge and skills, e.g., tire changes, bad weather experience, basic problem-solving, etc.
• Must maintain clean driving record as required, and be insurable
• Must pass DOT physical, Drug Test, Background Check, Pre-Employment Test (if applicable) and pass security screening as required
