POSITION SUMMARYAt Carlsbad Educational Foundation (CEF), the Enrichment Instructor will be highly skilled and have the ability and capacity to teach students a given specialty by immersing them in hands-on enrichment lessons. Classes are held on Carlsbad Unified School District campuses after school dismissal. Classes typically range from 1-1.5 hours, from 1 to 5 days a week. All position responsibilities must be performed in accordance with city, state, federal and Company policy. TO APPLY, PLEASE SUBMIT A RESUME AND COVER LETTER.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.ENRICHMENT INSTRUCTOR COORDINATOR DUTIES• Teach after-school enrichment class once or multiple times a week for 5 - 10 weeks at a time in topics including but not limited to: languages, sports, art, performance, cooking, STEM, coding, and/or technology. • Develop and facilitate a full syllabus with lesson plans for enrichment activities that are approved by the Enrichment Manager and meet the needs of the program and students.  • Manage students' check-in and out of the program and follow all program protocol as instructed.  • Source and secure materials, track expenses and submit reimbursements where necessary. • Use proper safety protocols for indoor and outdoor settings by clearly defining safety expectations. • Have basic knowledge of age-appropriate classroom and behavior management skills - Staff members routinely and effectively use classroom management techniques like setting expectations, appropriate consequences, attention-getters, and incentives. • Effectively communicates verbally and in writing information that is critical to the successful operations of the program, including accidents, injuries, and behavior issues. • Other work duties as assigned by management.CORE COMPETENCIESCOMMUNICATION AND DOCUMENTATION1. Uphold Company values at all times; conserve company resources and report waste.NON-EXEMPT POSITION DESCRIPTIONEDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, AND CLEARANCE• High school diploma or the equivalent.  • Minimum of two years instructing students in a classroom, sport, or other educational setting. • One year of experience writing and delivering lesson plans. • California Department of Justice fingerprint and background clearance required.  • Criminal Record Certification.  • Child Abuse Index Check. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESKnowledge:• Basic computer skills, including Internet use, E-mail, and typing skills.  • Working knowledge of communication systems such as telephone and printing systems.  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.  • Curriculum development and teaching skills.Skills and Abilities:• Exhibit outstanding customer service to students, parents, and staff members.  • Model respectful and age-appropriate (for students) interpersonal communications skills.  • Excellent communication and time-management skills. • Experience in classroom management or with leading small groups. • Plan and implement lessons and activities.  • Evaluate the needs and progress of individual students.  • Evaluate emergency situations and act decisively and proactively to bring resolution to the situation.  • Discern when students may need special physical, medical or psychological assistance and support.
