A 585+ bed healthcare facility in Kansas City is seeking a Clinical Nurse Coordinator (Charge RN) to support its Ortho/Neuro Trauma unit. This large academic-style facility includes a Level I Trauma Center, Primary Stroke Center, and Chest Pain Center, along with multiple specialized service lines designed to support high-acuity patient care.

The Clinical Nurse Coordinator provides leadership and coordination for all unit operations during assigned shifts, ensuring safe, efficient, and patient-centered nursing care. This role works closely with unit leadership and the broader management team to guide clinical practice, support workflow, and maintain high standards of care across the department.

Key responsibilities include overseeing patient admissions and discharges to promote smooth throughput, monitoring nursing care delivery, and supporting ongoing quality improvement initiatives. The role also contributes to staffing coordination, scheduling support, and maintaining appropriate staffing levels based on patient acuity and unit needs. Additional duties include participating in staff development, performance feedback, conflict resolution, and assisting with service recovery efforts to ensure a positive patient experience.

Qualifications:

  • Strong, current acute care Med-Surg experience required

  • Prior Charge RN experience preferred, or at least 2 years of recent staff RN experience on a Med-Surg unit

  • Experience must be current and recent

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

  • Active RN license in the applicable state(s) or compact license in good standing

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required within 30 days of hire

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within 30 days of hire

Schedule:

  • Full-time

  • Night shift (7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.)

  • Rotating weekends
