Procurement & Materials Coordinator – Metal MachiningPosition OverviewWe are a precision metal machining company seeking a Procurement & Materials Coordinator to support the purchasing and flow of raw materials and components used in daily production. This role is ideal for someone early in their procurement career who is organized, detail-oriented, and interested in learning the materials side of a machining operation.The position focuses on execution, coordination, and system support, with training provided on materials, vendors, and machining requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist with purchasing raw materials and shop components (steel, aluminum, stainless, etc.)Send RFQs to approved vendors and help compare pricing and lead timesPlace purchase orders based on production needs and guidance from managementTrack and schedule material deliveries to support production schedulesMaintain Kanban, min/max, or reorder systems for raw materials and shop suppliesHelp ensure material availability to prevent production delaysWork with production and planning teams to understand material usage and demandMaintain purchasing records, inventory counts, and basic vendor informationSupport continuous improvement of ordering processes and material systemsCommunicate with vendors regarding order status and delivery updatesQualificationsExperience in purchasing, materials, or supply chain (manufacturing preferred, not required)Strong organizational skills and attention to detailComfortable working with spreadsheets and basic purchasing systemsWillingness to learn machining materials and shop processesAbility to follow procedures and maintain accurate recordsGood communication skills (email, phone)Reliable, proactive, and able to manage multiple tasksPreferredExposure to manufacturing, machining, or shop environmentsFamiliarity with basic inventory concepts (reorder points, Kanban, min/max)Experience working with vendors or service centersWhat We OfferCompetitive, entry-level to mid-level compensation based on experienceTraining on machining materials, vendors, and procurement processesClear growth path into Buyer, Sourcing Specialist, or Supply Chain rolesStable manufacturing environmentHands-on experience supporting CNC operationsWhy This Role Is a Great Entry PointThis role provides real exposure to:How materials move through a machining shopVendor interaction and RFQ processesInventory systems that keep machines runningIt's a strong foundation for someone looking to grow a long-term career in manufacturing or supply chain.
