Surgery Scheduler – Surgical Services & Regional OR Coordination (Harrisburg, PA)
Job Type: Full-Time, Direct-Hire (Permanent placement on company payroll with immediate full benefits; not a temporary job)
Location: Harrisburg, PA 17101 (Hybrid – Downtown Harrisburg area)
Schedule: Monday – Thursday (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM), Friday (7:00 AM – 11:00 AM); No weekends or holidays!
New Hire Starting Base Pay: $19.74 – $22.22 per hour (Starting pay based on experience, with clear advancement pathways as you build specialized expertise.)
Future Earning Potential: Established employees have the opportunity to earn progressive pay increases up to $29.67 per hour over time through performance, tenure, and continuous learning.
How You'll Make an Impact
- Regional Surgery Scheduling: Coordinate operating room schedules across 12 regional clinical sites, managing block time releases and confirming case details with physician office schedulers.
- Clinical Resource Coordination: Maintain direct communication with operating room staff and anesthesia teams regarding daily case volumes, scheduling conflicts, and resource availability.
- Surgical Charge Entry & Data Auditing: Enter surgical charges and case data into the surgical services documentation system, reviewing nursing documentation to ensure complete, timely, and accurate billing capture.
- Audit & Discrepancy Resolution: Partner with service line coordinators and OR managers to resolve documentation discrepancies, auditing charts and processing adjustments via patient accounts as needed.
- Administrative & Database Management: Maintain surgical databases, answer and direct department calls, and maintain sorted administrative records to support daily business operations.
What We’re Looking For – Minimum Job Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience working in a physician office or medical field required (an Associate degree may be substituted in lieu of experience); previous surgery scheduling and call center/telecommunications experience required.
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent required (Associate degree preferred).
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with medical database systems, electronic medical record (EMR) scheduling modules, data entry, and surgical charge posting.
- Industry Knowledge: Basic understanding of surgical terminology, OR block scheduling concepts, surgical charge entry processes, and HIPAA regulations.
- Soft Skills: Excellent organizational abilities, sharp attention to detail, proactive problem-solving, and strong communication skills.
