I. SUMMARY OF POSITION:Responsible for the mechanical reliability of plant manufacturing systems to ensure that production operates in an environment conducive to maximum efficiency while ensuring employee safety and protection of company assets. This will be accomplished through effective troubleshooting, repair, and maintaining of machinery and mechanical / electrical equipment to include motors, conveyor systems, control systems, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, production machines, boilers, chillers, pumps, liquid fillers, packaging equipment, material handling equipment, bulk delivery equipment, and blending/mixing systems. II. RESPONSIBILITIES:Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical and electrical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments as neededReplace defective parts by dismantling and reassembling devices; using hoists, cranes, hand and power tools; examining condition of partsDetermines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts by using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instrumentsAdjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, power tools, and the likeControls downtime by performing and documenting routine preventive maintenance; monitoring operational complianceUtilize blueprints, plans, electrical drawing and code specifications to complete job tasks, repair machinery and set machines to specificationTroubleshoot, testing, and repair of manufacturing equipment which can include various electrical, mechanical, and control systems to ensure that they are working properlyRun tests, isolation of problems, replacing worn or malfunctioning partsPerform upgrades or preventive maintenance to electrical control systemsInspect, test, repair, and install systems or equipment correctly to assure safe, reliable, and efficient operationRecommend actions to improve maintenance activities and operationsBuilding and plumbing repair/maintenance activities as requiredMay be required to retrofit equipment with controls needed to improve the efficiency and performance of the devicesWill comply with all safety policies and proceduresAssist in other areas and perform other duties as assigned III. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Must have a minimum of 5 years Plant Maintenance Technician experience (required)Associates Degree from a technical school or have completed a recognized apprenticeship program is preferredMicrosoft Office including Outlook, Word, and ExcelExperience with CMMS systems In-depth knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems maintenanceKnowledge of programmable logic controllers, VFD's, and industrial control systemsWorking knowledge of Class I, Div. I and Div. II electrical classifications and equipment IV. REPORTING REQUIREMENTS:Reports to the Maintenance Superintendent V. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Prolonged periods of standing and walkingAble to bend, stretch, push, pull and move as needed to reach, clean and service machineryMust be able to visually inspect machinesMust be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds at times
