Dental Office Receptionist Job Description

Our office is seeking a friendly, organized, and dependable dental office receptionist with a dental assistant background. You will be the first point of contact for patients, existing and new, and will help ensure the smooth daily operations of our dental practice. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, communicating clearly, and can manage administrative tasks in a dental office environment.


Key Responsibilities

· Greet patients warmly and provide excellent customer service in person and over the phone.

· Answer incoming calls, respond to patient questions, and direct calls to the appropriate team

member.

· Schedule, confirm, reschedule, and cancel appointments while helping maintain an efficient daily

schedule.

· Check patients in and out, collect required paperwork, and update patient information as needed.

· Verify insurance information, assist with eligibility checks, and communicate coverage details to patients

when appropriate.

· Collect payments, provide receipts, and support billing and account-related questions.

· Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in the dental practice management system.

· Coordinate referrals, follow-up appointments, and communication between patients, dentists, hygienists,

and other team members.

· Keep the reception area clean, organized, welcoming, and stocked with necessary supplies.

· Support general administrative tasks such as filing, scanning, emailing, ordering supplies, and managing incoming or outgoing correspondence.

Qualifications

· High school diploma or equivalent required.

· Previous receptionist, administrative, dental assisting experience preferred.

· Experience with Dentrix dental practice management software is preferred but not required.

· Basic computer skills, including email, data entry, and Microsoft Office or similar programs.

· Ability to multitask, prioritize, and stay calm during busy periods.

· Strong attention to detail and accuracy in scheduling, billing, and recordkeeping.

· Dependable, punctual, and able to work well as part of a team.


Work Environment and Schedule


This position is based on a professional dental office setting and requires regular interaction with patients, dental providers, and administrative staff.


Our office schedule is Monday from 9am-4pm, Tuesday-Thursday from 9am-6pm.

Hourly Pay and Benefits

Hourly pay is competitive and will be based on experience, dental office knowledge, and qualifications. Paid time off after the introductory period.
