Mini Excavator / Skid Steer Operator – Commercial Landscaping

Location: Brownsville, TX

Job Type: Full-Time | Temporary Project (Approximately 3 Months)


Job Summary

MEMCO is seeking experienced Mini Excavator / Skid Steer Operators to support a commercial landscaping project in Brownsville, TX. Operators will be responsible for site preparation, grading, excavation, material handling, and assisting with landscape construction and hardscape installation. Candidates must be able to operate equipment safely and efficiently while working alongside landscape crews in a fast-paced environment.


Essential Responsibilities
  • Safely operate mini excavators and skid steer loaders to support commercial landscaping operations.
  • Perform site preparation, grading, excavation, trenching, and backfilling.
  • Excavate for irrigation systems, drainage, utilities, tree pits, and landscape features.
  • Load, transport, and distribute soil, gravel, mulch, rock, and other landscaping materials.
  • Assist with final grading to ensure proper elevations and drainage.
  • Read and follow grade stakes, site plans, and supervisor instructions.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections and report maintenance or repair needs.
  • Maintain equipment in a clean and safe operating condition.
  • Work safely around utilities, structures, pedestrians, and other jobsite personnel.
  • Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
  • Assist with general labor duties when equipment is not in operation.

Qualifications
  • Previous experience operating mini excavators and/or skid steer loaders is required.
  • Experience on commercial landscaping, site development, or heavy civil construction projects is preferred.
  • Ability to perform grading, trenching, excavation, and material handling.
  • Knowledge of safe equipment operation and routine preventive maintenance.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Reliable transportation to and from the jobsite.
  • Must have a valid DL/ID


Physical Requirements
  • Ability to climb on and off heavy equipment throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when required.
  • Ability to work on uneven terrain and in varying weather conditions.
  • Capable of standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and performing physical tasks as needed.
