Field Assistant Technician

Job Summary

The Field Assistant Technician supports field technicians and supervisors with the installation, inspection, adjustment, repair and servicing of doors, frames, hardware and related products. This position requires travel to job sites, safe use of hand and power tools, accurate documentation and professional communication with customers and other trades. Field Assistant Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment used in aluminum operations. This role ensures maximum equipment uptime, supports production efficiency, and maintains a safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities

· Assist field technicians with installations, adjustments, repairs and service work.

· Load, unload, organize and transport tools, materials and equipment.

· Verify products and materials against job documents before installation.

· Assist with measuring job-site openings and checking dimensions.

· Help identify damaged, missing or incorrect materials.

· Install or assist with installing doors, frames, hardware, trim and related components.

· Perform minor adjustments and repairs under the direction of the lead technician.

· Take photographs and document job-site conditions, completed work and outstand issues.

· Maintain accurate daily service reports, material lists and time records.

· Keep tools, equipment, vehicles and work areas clean and organized.

· Follow company safety procedures and job-site requirements.

· Wear required personal protective equipment.

· Communicate respectfully with customer, contractors, supervisors and co-workers.

· Report safety concerns, product issues, delays and job-site problems promptly.

· Perform other field-support, other manufacturing jobs and other duties as assigned.

· Other duties as assigned or as needed.

Required Skills & Qualifications

· High School diploma or GED required; technical or trade school preferred, 2-year mechanical degree desired.

· Previous construction, installation, maintenance, manufacturing or field-service experience is helpful, but not require. Maintenance experience and mechanical knowledge is preferred.

· Ability to follow written instructions, drawings and work orders.

· Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.

· Dependable attendance and ability to arrive at job sites on time.

· Good communication and teamwork skills.

· Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record may be required.

· Ability to pass any required background check or drug screening.

· Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.

· Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

· Ability to lift 50 lbs or greater.

Preferred Experience

· Experience in aluminum or metals manufacturing.

· Familiarity with aluminum or metals operations and tooling.

Work Environment

· Industrial manufacturing setting with exposure to heat, noise, and heavy machinery.

· Requires standing, walking, climbing, and lifting (up to 75lbs).

· May require working weekends and overtime as needed.

· Ability to work indoors and outdoors in changing weather conditions.

· Ability to safely operate tools and handle construction materials.

· Ability to work in active construction environments and around dust, noise and moving equipment.

Work Schedule and Travel

· Regular daytime schedule with overtime as needed.

· Early-morning starts, occasional evenings or weekend work may be required.

· Local and out-of-town travel may be necessary depending on job assignments.
