Job Brief
Kable Workforce Solutions is hiring a SMT Team Leader for our client. This job is responsible for monitoring SMT cell output, reporting order status, coordinating staffing and daily responsibilities, training employees, troubleshooting and adjusting SMT machines, monitoring quality and scrap rates, recommending process improvements, and ensuring a clean and orderly cell.

This job is responsible for monitoring SMT cell output, reporting order status, coordinating staffing and daily responsibilities, training employees, troubleshooting and adjusting SMT machines, monitoring quality and scrap rates, recommending process improvements, and ensuring a clean and orderly cell.
What’s a Typical Day Like?
- Review SMT schedules daily to monitor cell output.
- Report order status in production meetings. Accurately predict cell output within ½ day.
- Communicate as needed with cell leaders to keep production on schedule and achieve our goal of 100% on-time delivery.
- Communicate staffing needs to production manager and work together to staff the cell appropriately.
- Continually develop skills and provide training to cell employees where needed.
- Improve quality in all areas of the SMT assembly process.
- SMT Lead will monitor feeder scrap rate of 2% or less, using the Flex line monitor software.
- Scrap will be checked hourly to identify a problem, find the cause and create the necessary corrective action to remedy the problem by aid of the machine scrap bins and Fuji Flex line monitor software (Vacuum Switches).
- Ensure that all applicable scrap parts are identified, sorted into bags and turned into Lead Material Handler, at the end of each shift.
- Monitor all rejected boards to identify failure trends, report findings to proper support personnel, i.e., machine repair, program repair, stencil support, etc.
- Assist employees with verification and startups on all production orders within the cell.
- Co-ordinate daily responsibilities with Pre-Loaders.
- Troubleshoot & adjust/fix SMT machines as needed to restore proper operation.
- Log Run times and communicate target times to employees for the product they are working on and hold them accountable for their numbers.
- Recommend process improvement where needed.
- If a lot is rejected at inspection, the sort will be performed by the responsible cell.
- Initiate Downtime Log when production has stopped or reached an unacceptable level of quality.
What Are the Requirements of the Job?
- Two years-experience on electromechanical or SMT placement equipment.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Maintain a clean and orderly cell.
- Demonstrates leadership and organizational skills, has integrity and high personal standards.
- Good communication skills with Production Supervisor, Quality Manager, Process Engineer, Maintenance Supervisor, Inspection, and other team members to resolve production issues.
- Effective monitoring and development of training needs for team members.
- All work is performed in a manufacturing environment. The position requires prolonged standing.
- Knowledge of and skills in the use of electronic pick and place equipment
- Performed in an electronics manufacturing environment.
- This position will interface with all areas of the manufacturing workforce, management team and machine support
- Ability to work in fast-paced environment.
- Ability to move or lift up to 50+ lbs.
- Ability to reach, grasp, hold, push, pull, bend, twist, squat, climb, kneel.
- Ability to utilize hand/eye coordination.
- Capability to stand for prolonged periods of time
- Communication skills.
