Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care while assisting the dentist during various procedures. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a passion for patient interaction, particularly in pediatric dentistry.
Responsibilities
- Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Prepare and maintain the treatment area, ensuring compliance with infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.
- Take and develop dental X-rays while adhering to safety standards and HIPAA regulations.
- Manage patient records, including medical documentation and medical records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Utilize EMR systems such as Dentrix or Open Dental for scheduling appointments, managing patient information, and documenting treatments.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-operative care instructions.
- Monitor vital signs as needed during procedures to ensure patient safety.
- Assist with pediatric patients, providing a comforting environment during their visits.
- Maintain inventory of dental supplies and equipment, placing orders as necessary.
- Collaborate with the dental receptionist to ensure smooth patient flow and excellent customer service.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a dental clinic setting is preferred, with familiarity in general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
- Proficiency in using dental terminology, medical terminology, and understanding anatomy knowledge relevant to dental procedures.
- Experience with medical imaging technologies such as 3D scanners is a plus.
- Knowledge of infection control practices and ability to implement them effectively within the clinic environment.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients of all ages and their families.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
