Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Pump Mechanic to join our maintenance team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience installing, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting industrial pumps and related mechanical equipment. This position requires strong mechanical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to safely perform physically demanding maintenance work.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect, maintain, repair, and service industrial pumps and mechanical equipment
- Troubleshoot pump failures, leaks, vibration, noise, and performance issues
- Disassemble and reassemble pumps, motors, seals, bearings, shafts, and related components
- Perform pump alignment and coupling installation
- Replace mechanical seals, packing, bearings, gaskets, and other worn components
- Inspect equipment for wear, damage, and potential failures
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on pumps and rotating equipment
- Install and remove pumps, piping components, valves, and related equipment as required
- Read equipment manuals, mechanical drawings, and specifications
- Use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment
- Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records
- Follow company safety procedures and applicable OSHA requirements
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Work with maintenance personnel and other departments to minimize equipment downtime
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Pump Mechanic, Mechanical Technician, Millwright, Maintenance Mechanic, or similar role
- Experience with centrifugal pumps and/or positive displacement pumps preferred
- Strong knowledge of mechanical seals, bearings, couplings, shafts, and pump components
- Experience with pump alignment and rotating equipment
- Ability to read mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, and specifications
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment
- Ability to safely lift, carry, and move mechanical components and equipment as required
- Comfortable standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in various positions for extended periods
- Ability to work around industrial machinery and in shop, plant, or outdoor environments
- Ability to wear required PPE and follow all safety procedures
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
