We are seeking an experienced Imports Entry Writer to join a growing freight forwarding team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in import customs entry processing, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced logistics environment.
Responsibilities- Prepare and process U.S. Customs import entries accurately and timely.
- Review commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and other import documentation.
- Classify shipments and ensure compliance with U.S. Customs and Partner Government Agency (PGA) requirements.
- Coordinate with U.S. Customs, customs brokers, carriers, steamship lines, and government agencies to facilitate cargo clearance.
- Communicate with customers regarding shipment status, documentation requirements, and clearance issues.
- Resolve customs holds, discrepancies, and documentation problems promptly.
- Maintain accurate shipment records and ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.
- Work closely with operations, warehouse, and customer service teams to ensure seamless import processing.
- Stay current on import regulations, tariffs, and customs procedures.
- Minimum of 3 years of recent experience as an Import Entry Writer in a freight forwarding or customs brokerage environment (required).
- Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations and import documentation.
- Experience processing entries through ACE and customs brokerage software.
- Familiarity with HTS classification, customs valuation, and duty calculations.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple shipments while meeting strict deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) is a plus but not required.
- Experience with CargoWise, Descartes, or similar freight forwarding/customs software preferred.
